Our Vision

Gathering a community

A life lived for Christ can only be fully lived in communion with God and in community with one another. Therefore, we seek to gather a community where God is present and in which loving Christ-like relationships are actively pursued.

To live for Christ

Our love for Christ becomes the central motive for all that we do. In keeping with this, our thoughts, words and actions become defined by his commands.

Four Key Strategies to live out our Vision

Encourage one another.  We aspire to be a community that openly acknowledges the challenges of living for Christ in this present world. Together, we commit ourselves to encourage one another with God’s Word, with prayer, and with acts and words of kindness.
Growing together. We know we haven’t ‘arrived’ and we aspire to be a community that is always growing in what it means to live for Christ. Our goal is to become like Christ and to increasingly reflect his wisdom, goodness and love.
Equip with God's Truth.  Our goal is to teach and model to one another what God’s Word says about how to live in a comprehensive way, practically applying God’s truth to every sphere of life.
Going with the Gospel.  Living for Christ extends beyond Sunday morning. We live for Christ in our families, at work, school and in the community. In this way, others may experience the goodness and grace of God and be drawn to him. It also involves telling others the good news about Christ and inviting them to live for him.

ONE WAY WE "GO"

Serving our local community

Food From the Heart.  This ministry offers a meal, friendship and the good news.  In 1992 an elder in our church had the vision to reach out to the needy of our area with a community dinner. The dinner would not only provide a good meal, but also offer friendship and the good news of Jesus Christ. Out of this vision arose our monthly Food from the Heart dinners.
Each month we share a homemade meal with guests from the community. Members of our congregation prepare the meals, develop caring relationships with those who come, and present a short message from Scripture and from their own life experiences as Christians. Local bakeries and food suppliers regularly assist in providing food for the meals and for our guests to take home with them.

Food from the Heart dinners are held at the church ordinarily the last Sunday of each month at 1:00 p.m.  Check the church calendar or contact the church office to confirm the date of the next dinner.

Equipping with God's truth

The first disciples of Jesus recognized that he had the “words of eternal life” (John 6:68). We believe that also and so seek to teach these words to all who will listen and who seek the eternal life that Jesus came to bring.

Believing that no one is too young or too old to learn from God’s word we offer classes to all ages, from young toddlers to older adults. We recognize the centrality of the Bible and the crucial importance of knowing what God has done for us through Jesus and how God wants us to live.
