Position Summary

We are seeking a Christian Education Pastor who will provide leadership, vision, and oversight for Christian education for children’s and youth ministries and adult Sunday School. This pastor will shape Christian education and spiritual formation at LPC by developing/evaluating curriculum, equipping leaders, and nurturing spiritual growth in a way that reflects our Reformed theological heritage. This is a full-time, salaried position accountable to the Session and Lead Pastor.

Primary  Responsibilities

  • Lead the church’s Christian Discipleship Ministries Team (CDM) and chair CDM committee meetings
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for Children’s and Youth Ministries
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight of Adult Sunday School
  • Develop and/or select curriculum for Children’s, Youth and Adult Sunday School ensuring biblical fidelity consistent with Reformed standards and spiritual growth
  • Develop or select and lead training programs for ministry leaders
  • Develop or select curriculum for Community Groups and provide training for Community Group Leaders in collaboration with the Church Life Pastor
  • Teach in a variety of church education settings
  • Observe classes and ministries and provide feedback and coaching to teachers and leaders
  • Provide oversight to the church library
  • Perform pastoral duties including preaching as needed in coordination with the Lead Pastor

  • Experience in developing and evaluating curriculum for Christian education ministries and creating and leading training programs for ministry leaders
  • Relational, encouraging, and collaborative
  • Proven ability to motivate, delegate, and develop ministry leaders
  • Has a heart for youth growth and development
  • Able to clearly communicate and apply Scripture across a variety of settings reaching diverse congregants across generational, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds

qualifications

  • MDiv, MAR or equivalent from an accredited seminary
  • Ordained or ordainable PCA Teaching Elder, or from a church with mutually recognized disciplinary standards
  • Married (preferred)
